Flamengo's Latest Injury Update: Éder Militão Struggles with Persistent Knee Problem
The Brazilian football club Flamengo has been hit by another injury blow as their star player, Éder Militão, is struggling with a persistent knee problem.
Militão, who was signed from Chelsea in January 2018 for €40 million ($46 million), has made over 50 appearances for the club so far this season, scoring four goals and providing three assists.
However, the defender has been plagued by injuries throughout his career, including a torn cruciate ligament in 2017 that required surgery. He missed the entire 2018-19 season due to rehabilitation and returned last year after undergoing further treatment.
But now, he faces another setback as he continues to struggle with his knee problem, which has forced him to miss training sessions and limit his playing time.
"It's really tough," head coach Paulo Bento said about Militão's situation. "He's a great player, but when you have an injury like this, it's not easy."
Bento added that they will continue to monitor the situation closely and try to find ways to help Militão recover as quickly as possible.
For now, Flamengo will be without one of their key players, and the team will need to rely on others to fill the void left by Militão's absence.
As for Militão himself, he remains optimistic despite the setbacks. "I'm going to keep fighting until I get back on the pitch," he told reporters. "I'll do whatever it takes to get back to where I want to be."
