As the first Chinese woman astronaut, Liu Yang is not only a national hero but also a symbol of China's space exploration efforts. On June 16th, 2018, she became the first Chinese woman to enter space as part of the Shenzhou X mission. Since then, she has become a role model for women in science and technology.
Liu Yang was born in 1980 in Zhejiang province, where her family moved from Jiangxi when she was young. She grew up with a strong interest in science and mathematics, which led her to study aerospace engineering at Tsinghua University in Beijing. After graduating from university, she joined the Chinese Academy of Space Technology (CAST) and began her career in space research.
In 2010, Liu Yang was selected by CAST to participate in the Shenzhou-9 manned spacecraft mission. This was the first time that a Chinese woman had been chosen to fly into space. Despite being just 27 years old, Liu Yang proved herself to be a skilled astronaut, completing all of her assigned tasks during the mission without incident.
Since then, Liu Yang has continued to make contributions to China's space program. In 2015, she participated in the Shenzhou X mission, becoming the first Chinese woman to travel into space. In 2016, she was appointed deputy director of the CAST Astronaut Office, and in 2017, she was awarded the Medal of the Republic for her outstanding achievements in space research.
Liu Yang's achievements have inspired many women in China, who see her as a role model and hope to follow in her footsteps. Her success in the field of space research shows that anyone can achieve their dreams if they work hard and never give up. As she says, "I believe that we should continue to pursue our dreams, no matter how difficult it may seem."
